Ride the Flow

Bestrick contest, May 27-28 2004

highlights from the event:

* there was a huge turnout of girl riders, something like 17 of them.  Corey Coffey won by flowing around pretty well and performing a backflip and a no hander.   Nina impressed everybody with a tailtap to barspin.  Sam Lyons did well in qualifying, but was tired in the finals and was taking it on downside footplants and other manuevers, she did do some cool rollback tricks though.

*Dan Sieg broke his arm pretty bad doing some sort of gap to downside smith. He fell to the ground and got right up and his arm was hanging all weird.

*Jason "Dorito" Perz  recovered from a mild heart attack in time to go big at the event, he was the first pro rider and his first trick was a huge bunnyhop tailwhip gap

*the nights at the hotel were crazy, Corey Coffee started a big argument after throwing a box of beer bottles over a balcony and it hit some kids in the head, they were not happy with her.  Our group got thrown out of our room because the people below us claimed we had been throwing rocks at their door.

*the Local Exposure Tour video was premiered and was actually pretty good, it featured locals from the Flow, the Chengas, and the Incline Club  and a bunch of talking by some pros that went on the trip to all the parks, Quinn Semling was chosen as favorite local rider or something like that and will be going on the next tour

*Morgan Wade showed up right before the contest started and barely practiced but still destroyed everything including a light fixture on the ceiling.  That kid can tailwhip down a little wedge better than just about anybody can tailwhip on anything

*Steve McCann proved that going fast and flowing around and not doing a single lip trick can win the big dollars anyday, he did do a nice 720 lookback though.

* Mark P. ruled the subrail with 360 tailtap to icepick over and back, and icepick to pedal feeble to 270 over the tall slanted subbox wallride thing
